What is Ascension Academics?

Ascension Academics is a private, managed test-preparation and academic advising firm. We run SAT and ACT programs, one-on-one academic tutoring from grade 3 through college, and college advising, delivered online, wherever your family is based. Every student works with a senior instructor on a plan built from a Diagnostic, with weekly assignments, full-length timed practice, and written progress reports to parents. It is a structured program, not open-ended hourly tutoring.

How is Ascension different from traditional tutoring?

Traditional tutoring is usually open-ended and billed by the hour. Ascension is a managed program. We start from a Diagnostic, set a Target Score, build a Roadmap, and pair the student with a senior instructor rather than a generalist. Progress is reported in writing along the way. Families choose the structure and accountability, not just hours.

How do virtual sessions actually work?

Sessions are live, one to one, and scheduled at a fixed weekly time. Instructor and student share a workspace on screen. Everything written during the session is saved and available afterward.

What does my student need in order to attend?

A computer with a working camera and microphone, a stable internet connection, and a quiet room. Nothing else. We send setup instructions before the first session and test the connection in advance.

We are not in New York. Does that matter?

No. Ascension works privately with families across the country, and virtual instruction is how we deliver it. A student in Seattle and a student in Atlanta work with the same senior instructors against the same curriculum standards.

How are time zones handled?

Sessions are scheduled in your time zone. You will never be asked to convert anything.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancel more than 48 hours before a session and there is no charge. Between 48 and 24 hours, the session is billed at half rate. Inside 24 hours, the session is billed in full. Your first cancellation is waived, whenever it happens. We also waive the fee for illness and genuine emergencies. Tell us what happened and we will handle it.

Why charge for late cancellations at all?

Senior instructors accept a limited number of students per semester. A reserved session is time held for your student and not offered to anyone else. The policy is what makes that reservation mean something.

Do you offer makeup sessions?

Yes. A cancelled session can be rescheduled into any open slot with your instructor that week, subject to availability. Rescheduling outside the cancellation window carries no charge.

What does it cost?

Ascension is a premium service and we price accordingly. We do not list rates publicly, because the right program depends on the Diagnostic, the Target Score, and the time remaining. We will give you an exact number on the consultation, before you commit to anything.

How long does a student typically work with Ascension?

That depends on the distance between the Diagnostic and the Target Score. The Roadmap states it up front. You will not be guessing.

Who will my student actually work with?

A senior instructor. Every student works directly with a senior instructor, and senior instructors accept a limited number of students per semester.
